He was a Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors and Deputy Chairman of The Board of Directors of Tatra banka a.s., Bratislava, since 1990. From 2009 to 2011 he was First Deputy Chairman of the Board of VAT Raiffeisen Bank Aval, Kyiv.

Before coming to Slovakia Mr. Franz held positions as Vice President of Chase Manhattan Bank, with assignments in New York, Tokio, Hong Kong and Manila. He also worked at DG Bank Frankfurt/Main, as Branch Manager in Singapur and Hong Kong and General Manager of Commercial Bank of Greece, Germany.

From 2010 he has been a Member of the Advisory Board of ACEC. He worked as a Member of the Management Board of Flick Privatstiftung Austria, presently serves as a Member of the Supervisory Board of Allianz Bank Bulgaria.
