The 17th edition of the prestigious Roma Spirit Award 2025 has received a total of 163 valid nominations. Anyone wishing to recognize the work and dedication of individuals and organizations contributing to the advancement of Roma communities and strengthening mutual coexistence had the opportunity to submit a nomination.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

All submitted nominations were reviewed by the eighteen-member Preparatory Committee of Roma Spirit, composed of experts from various professional fields. The committee oversees the preparations for the event and ensures a transparent selection of finalists.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Committee includes members of the Regular Board<\/a><\/strong><\/span> \u2013 social inclusion expert Stanislav Daniel<\/strong>, former Slovak Government Plenipotentiary for Roma Communities J\u00e1n Hero<\/strong>, ACEC Director Magdal\u00e9na Rothov\u00e1<\/strong>, lawyer and educator Ivett Pavlis<\/strong>, sociologist \u00c1bel Ravasz<\/strong>, and founder of the Roma Spirit Award \u013dubom\u00edra Slu\u0161n\u00e1 Franz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery nomination we receive is proof that Roma Spirit has been fulfilling its mission for seventeen years. I am convinced that in the situation we find ourselves in as a society today, the importance and role of this event are greater than ever,\u201d says \u013dubom\u00edra Slu\u0161n\u00e1 Franz<\/strong>, author of the Roma Spirit Award and Honorary President of the Association for Culture, Education and Communication (ACEC).<\/p>\n

Other members of the Preparatory Committee<\/a><\/span> include education expert Janette Motlov\u00e1<\/strong>, lawyer Andrea Erd\u0151sov\u00e1<\/strong>, Ambassador-at-Large for Human Rights Barbara Illkov\u00e1<\/strong>, anthropologist Radka Kov\u00e1\u010dov\u00e1<\/strong>, HR Director of Tesco Slovakia Miroslava Rycht\u00e1rechov\u00e1<\/strong>, media expert Marta Gajdo\u0161\u00edkov\u00e1<\/strong>, anthropologist Alexander Mu\u0161inka<\/strong>, sociologist Jakub Kov\u00e1\u010d<\/strong>, and Carpathian Foundation Director Laura Dittel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, I found truly authentic applications among the nominations. They were written by women directly from the community \u2013 perhaps not with perfect stylistics, but with immense strength and emotion. At that moment, I thought \u2013 this is why Roma Spirit is important, this is its true meaning,\u201d adds Janette Motlov\u00e1<\/strong>, member of the Preparatory Committee.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The names of the 21 finalists across 7 categories<\/strong> will be announced at the beginning of October. The Roma Spirit 2025 laureates<\/strong> will then be selected by the International Expert Jury<\/strong> and the Act of the Year Jury<\/strong> on the very day of the awards ceremony, 30 November<\/strong>. A recording of the gala evening will be broadcast by Slovak Television to mark International Human Rights Day.<\/p>\n
